Strathallan
corner

This was a four-week trial where the front portion of Strathallan Corner was temporarily transformed into a platform directing the view out to the intersection.

What happened and why?

Reorientation of the site to face the intersection, rather than sheltering from it, was a popular idea suggested by stakeholders and the wider community. To test the idea a temporary platform was installed that increased the opportunity for interaction with Stafford and Strathallan Streets while retaining the sheltered seating area behind. During the trial small groups representing diverse parts of the community, together with the wider public, occupied the space in a variety of ways. With this trial we wanted to understand and find reorientation of the space would change users’ experience of the city and how it might trigger new behaviours.
