Bite-Sized Recreation
Bite-Sized Recreation was a trial to bring play and recreational activities to Timaru’s city centre.
What happened and why?
Bite-sized recreation has the potential to improve everyday life for the community and encourage social interaction by offering a range of fun things to do in the city centre.
This trial offered opportunities for urban play and recreational activities for people of all ages in public spaces dotted around the city.
There were three activities in three different locations for the community to explore and play during this trial. These were:
Table Tennis Table and Giant Adirondack Chair
Heritage Place
Giant Tetherball
Strathallan Loop Bridge
Beach Scene
Outside Soul, Surf and Skate and Millie Rose Boutique - 279/281 Stafford Street
As a result of this trial, a number of Bite-Sized Recreation activities are still in place.
These are:
- The Giant Tetherball at the Strathallan Loop Walkway Bridge,
- The Giant Adirondack Chair now on the Bay Hill Piazza.
